How to speak English in America - IV

I wanted to let you know that, contrary to
what your mothers may have taught you, it is
perfectly acceptable to start a sentence with “hey!”.
Any sentence, mind you. Not just those addressing your
pets or close friends. You can call someone on the
phone and when they answer say: “Hey, it’s me” without
being considered even remotely rude. You can also
address your boss with a: ”Hey, did you want me to
file this chronologically or alphabetically?” and he
wouldn’t even blink. Good to know, isn’t it?
