East Coast bacterial cruising

I got to drive a car (actually a monster SUV the size of a small African country) in the Big Apple at night by myself in a rainstorm, listening to Radio France International.

I drove from New Jersey into the Bronx to see a friend and I can attest to the fact that New Yorkers are pigs behind the wheel. It is true that the moment you indicate your intention to change lanes, every driver who sees your indicator suddenly speeds up, hogs the lane you want to get into, sits on your ass to get you to pull over sooner - nightmare. Which is why most people never indicate at all and that makes for so much fun on the roads in the first place! But is was surreal to be driving down 2nd Ave at midnight listening to a radio programme in French about bacteria and microbes and their resistance to antibiotics.
